Viswajyothi emphasises on experiential learning, and field trips are a key part of this approach. One notable field trip was a visit to the High Court of Kerala. During this trip, students had the opportunity to observe the judicial process firsthand, gaining valuable insights into the workings of the legal system. They interacted with legal professionals and learned about the roles and responsibilities of various court officials. Another trip was an industrial visit to PDDP Central Society, Kalady. Such field trips not only enhance students’ understanding of their curriculum but also broaden their perspectives, making learning more engaging and impactful.
At Viswajyothi, education extends beyond academics with enriching extracurricular activities like the Student Council, Student Exchange Programme, and TiE – The Young Entrepreneur (TYE) Program. The India International Movement to the United Nations (IIMUN) is a prominent event where students hone their debate and diplomacy skills on global issues. Additionally, they participate in inter-school competitions, showcasing their talents in various fields and fostering comprehensive development. These initiatives prepare students to excel academically and thrive as well-rounded individuals ready to make a positive impact globally.
The Mock Parliament activity gives students insights into the Indian Parliament and its proceedings. Students of classes 11 and 12, Humanities Batch were the participants in the Mock Parliament. The students could make a detailed reference about the different Ministries and the issues and concerns of the country and also able to realize that administration is not an easy task.
We are dedicated to community service through initiatives like charity drives, environmental clean-ups, and local volunteering. Our students engage in meaningful projects that benefit our community, fostering values of empathy and civic responsibility.
Students were guided in Design Thinking and Innovation as a part of their skill education programme. Through the five stages of DTI i.e., Empathy, Define, Ideation, Prototype and Reflect, the students understand users, identify their needs and research relevant information after which ideas are explored until an appropriate innovative solution to the problem is arrived at.
Through the skill subject on mass media, students become wise consumers of media messages and at the same time they would also be responsible creators of media messages. It gives an opportunity to the children to `read’, `understand’, and `create’ various forms of media. It also empowers them with information on Cyber Safety and inculcates sensibilities of ethics and integrity in communication.
As part of annual Reading Day Celebrations, a three-day book fair was organized. Ms. Agatha Kurien, an Editor and Translator led a story telling session for the students. The school quadrangle came alive with a Mime performance highlighting the importance of reading and the delightful parade of little children dressed as their favourite book characters.
The Expo is an annual Science, Social science and Mathematics Exhibition to foster the creativity and problem-solving skills. Students get the opportunity to present models, projects and charts. Expo encourages their creativity, critical thinking, and practical application of knowledge.
